Saplings (Pre School)
Children aged 3-5 complete their journey at Ash Tree in Saplings. Our spacious preschool room is guided by our highly qualified Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) practitioners and fully certified primary school teachers.
Pre School is designed to resemble a classroom, and children are encouraged to wear a uniform to help prepare them for the transition to Reception class at Primary School, making the process as smooth as possible.
Despite this structure, our preschool maintains a warm, friendly, fun, and caring environment. Our goal is to develop your child’s independence, confidence, and self-esteem, which will be invaluable as they begin their school journey.
We conduct daily observations of the children, which helps us plan activities to support their development. Throughout the day, we have regular structured activities, such as a morning welcome where we greet each other not only in English but also in various languages. We maximise the use of our outdoor spaces, including the forest school and woodland area, by ensuring we go outside at least twice a day.
Your child’s learning journey will be continuously updated and shared with their designated primary school. This documentation complements the daily verbal reports provided, just as in the 0-2 and 2-3 rooms. As your child nears the end of their time in the 3-5 room, we will invite Reception class teachers to visit the nursery and discuss school with the children. We also organise visits to local schools whenever possible. While it is always bittersweet to see our preschoolers move on, we are proud to watch them take the next step in their educational journey.
