At Ash Tree, we are delighted to have received recognition as members of the FSA (Forest School Association).

What is Forest School?

Forest School is an inspirational approach to learning where children develop not only many aspects of themselves but also their own understanding of the outdoors.

We now have a Forest School area which provides a safe, fun environment in which all of our children will be able to spend plenty of time (not just one off visits). Whatever the weather, our children will be able to enjoy the many benefits of the forest school experience.

Having fully qualified members of staff is a key part of ensuring that our children get the most from forest school.

Three members of our team are now level 3 forest school qualified and have the skills needed to ensure that our children benefit as much as possible from the forest school experience.

 

Some of the activities that we do in Forest School

  • Listening activities
  • Construction, including dens and shelters
  • Bug hunting
  • We use natural resources to do counting, measuring and comparing exercises
  • Storytelling and roleplay
  • We get muddy!

… and Forest School is a great way to make new friends.
